Local
players set the pace in first round of Pro-Am |
Frenchman Philippe Dugeny led his team of
local golfers to the top of the leaderboard after the first
round of the Constance Hotels Pro-Am at the Belle Mare Plage
on Tuesday.
The 57-year-old from Aquitaine, who celebrates his birthday
on Sunday, combined superbly with his amateur partners – JF
Desvaux de Marigny, Jean Claude Maingard and Hector Espitalier
Noel – to return a net score of 98 points over the Legend
course.
That score was six points better than the three teams who
shared second place at the Legend and it also gave Dugeny’s
team a six-point advantage over the best team on net at the
Links.
|
There, fellow Frenchman Jean Pierre Sallat and England’s Doug
Young helped their teams to finish the opening day on 92 points,
three clear of their closest rivals.
Sallat was partnered by Sophie Cesari, Malek Andrieu and Valerie
Espitalier Noel, while Young’s team comprised Yvan Montocchio,
Jean Michel Pitot and Thierry Jauffret.
It was a different story in the gross category at both courses,
however, with the best result coming from the Links, where
the Ferguson Jones family, partnered by Zimbabwean professional
Mike Williams, emerged at the head of affairs.
The team of Williams and Martyn, Sally and Marcus Ferguson
Jones scored 83 points to earn a three-point cushion over
the next best score at the Links and also the top return at
the Legend, which came from South African John Bland, partnered
by Loic Bax, Luc Bax and Guy Adam on 80 points.
|
Meanwhile,
Hugh Baiocchi made a memorable return to the course he created
almost 16 years ago, carding a three-under-par 69 on the Legend
to guide Jocelin Ah Yu, Richard D’offay and Pramil Banymandhub
into second place on gross.
